ProjectLwT International Childcare Ministries, Uganda

"Bringing Hope, Saving Lives"

Background

LwT was founded by Pastor Sam Kiguli and Emma Norris in April 2007 to take care of the ever increasing number of street children, orphans, disadvantaged children and widows in the communities of Kyanya and Kyerima, 90 miles North of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. The charity was registered in Uganda in 2008 and has managed to fundraise and purchase a ten acre plot of land.

Sam is a native of Kyanya, a village deep in the Kayunga region which is an area primarily supported by subsistence farming. The villages have no electricity and rely on a bore hole some distance from the centre for their water. Many of the children are orphans due to the AIDS pandemic. The primary goals of LwT are to fight HIV/AIDS, reduce illiteracy and alleviate poverty within a Christian context.

Vision

imgp0359
LwT aims to support the local community through a number of grassroots projects; initially through building a much needed school on the land. Eventually the hope is to build an orphanage and vocational centre so that the community can develop local trades and be able to support their families.
